The Tea Party Express is focused on sending conservatives to Washington, and this political action committee had a significant impact on the midterm elections this November. Although it will take several election cycles to undo some of the progressive legislation that has been passed within the past two years, the Chairwomen of the Tea Party Express, Amy Kremer, believes that this is a step in the right direction.
Fiscal Responsibility, Responsibly
By Kaitlin Kremer
The Tea Party Express is committed to supporting and endorsing candidates that believe in the same core principles and values of the overall tea party movement which are; fiscal responsibility, limited governments and free markets.
Amy Kremer, born and raised in the Atlanta area, is one of the original founders of the tea party movement that began back in February 2009. She was one of 22 people that came together through the social media outlet Twitter to plan for tea parties the day after Rick Santelli had his first rant about the mortgage crisis.
“I was concerned, along with so many other Americans, about the out of control spending of our federal government so I became involved in the Tea Party Express because they were a partnering organization within the movement,” Kremer said.
Kremer’s Background
Growing up Kremer was part of a blended family consisting of two sisters and one brother. She was a small town girl with very little exposure to “the outside world.” Rarely leaving the state of Georgia, she had a dream to travel the world in hopes of making an active difference in the lives of others.
As an adult, Kremer spent time working as a real estate agent but felt there was something missing in her life. That is when she decided to become a flight attendant for Delta Airlines so she could pursue her passion for travel.
“The reoccurring theme with all of my jobs is that I am a people person and enjoy being around people,” Kremer said.
She is viewed as a genuine southern belle with a passion for life, politics, and current events. Her interests not only consist of traveling, but wine, cooking, gardening and her family.
Kremer Becomes Involved in Tea Party Express
Before the fall of 2008 Kremer’s interest in politics consisted of being a current events junkie and keeping abreast of political and news programming, but she was never actively engaged in the political process.
During the campaign season for the 2008 election, Kremer discovered she had a real interest in politics and began blogging. Social media was her out-let, and gave her the springboard to become an active part of the tea party movement.
When Kremer first started with the Tea Party Express she was only a speaker on the first bus tour in August 2009. In February of 2010 she officially joined the Tea Party Express as the Director of Grassroots and Coalitions. Then in June, Kremer accepted the position of chairwomen.
Kremer Takes the Tea Party Express from Coast to Coast
Kremer has traveled extensively across the country as part of the Tea Party Express. This past summer she spent eight weeks in Alaska working on a senate campaign in support of Joe Miller.
In addition to traveling to individual states to support candidates, she has been on all four Tea Party Express bus tours crisscrossing the country. They conduct rallies in different cities as they cross the country. The cities are chosen primarily to target congressional races.
Kremer’s mentor Sal Russo, who worked for Ronald Reagan, has helped her throughout her growth and journey with the Tea Party Express.
“Kremer’s hard work and dedication for the Tea Party has made the cross country bus tours a success, we need more people like her who are willing to engage in the political process and make a difference,” said Russo.
Looking to the Future
With the close of the 2010 elections the Tea Party Express is not just going to fade away. Tea Party loyalist will focus their attention on the new candidates that have been elected.
“We will be holding the newbies accountable as they arrive in Washington; these people need to know that they work for us. They need to listen to the people that sent them there, because if they don’t they will be sent packing in two years. People are not going to forget,” Kremer said.
Kremer is in this movement for the long haul. She plans to continue her quests to motivate the American citizens to make educated choices when sending candidates to Washington.

Fiscal Responsibility, Responsibly
The Tea Party Express is a group of vigilant citizens unsatisfied with the current policies of the federal government. They are upset about the out of control spending and lack of fiscal responsibility the government is exhibiting.
Both the Republican and Democratic parties are leading the U.S. to financial ruin. The national deficit is $13.7 trillion. If we divide this number by the U.S. population each individual in the U.S. is responsible for over $44,000 of debt.
The Republicans are responsible for trillions of dollars of debt through the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with the first $700 billion financial bank bailout. Democrats have issued over $900 billion in stimulus programs and auto bailouts, and added $410 billion in spending.
Our public officials and those appointed by our elected officials have failed. The government, like the people it represents must live within its means.
The Tea Party Express Chairwomen, Amy Kremer, reminds us that they are a group of citizens unsatisfied with the policies of the government.
“This is not about being a Democrat or Republican, we are vocalizing our displeasure with both parties,” Kremer said.
The out of control spending by the government at all levels must be stopped. A strong deficit reduction plan needs to be developed, approved and implemented slowly to insure the economy remains stable.
In a government of the people for the people and by the people we need to know that the U.S. is on the right track making sound fiscal decisions to save our future.
